There are a lot of obstacles that can get in the way of people recycling their empty beverage containers, like Armageddon or being in a coma. Here’s a list of some of the more popular reasons people don’t recycle their empties:

Laziness and inconvenience: Our studies show that the single greatest reason people don’t recycle empty beverage containers outside of their home is because it’s inconvenient. This is mostly due to a lack of recycle bins on the streets and, we suspect, people being lazy. Well, folks, now that we’re putting recycle bins all over Alberta, there are no more excuses not to recycle empties.

It’s confusing: Understanding which beverage containers can be recycled can be confusing. To help dispel this confusion here’s a helpful tip: every empty beverage container in Alberta can be recycled. It’s the truth! Alberta is the only system in North America that includes all beverage containers including meal replacements and milk. So, now that there’s no more confusion, you can get back to figuring out if you can daydream at night.

People hate money: You may find it hard to believe, but some people won’t return their empties because they hate deposit money. Instead of choosing a life spent in the pursuit of money, these people choose to spend their life chasing meaning and often philosophize on how to pay next month’s rent.
